David Leeder, Chief Executive Officer

David has over twenty years of top-level experience in the bus and rail sectors. He was CEO of the UK's largest regional bus network outside London – West Midlands Travel, Managing Director of the UK Bus Division of First Group plc and Executive and Main Board Director at National Express Group and First Group respectively. He has considerable experience outside the UK, identifying and leading rail and bus deals in the UK, EU (Ireland, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Turkey and Denmark) and North America. As well as being a founder of MET plc, he has advised the Department of Transport across the full range of UK transport policy, including rail, from 1999-2011, and has been a Director of the holding companies for the majority of the UK's train operating companies, as well as bus and rail operations in Europe, North America and Australia.

He has provided high-level advice and analysis to a variety of UK and global listed companies, infrastructure funds, government departments and private equity investors in relation to strategy and investment in transport.

David Leeder is a Past President of the UK bus industry trade association The Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT), a past Vice-Chairman of the Department for Transport's strategic advisory group – the Commission for Integrated Transport (1999-2010). David, along with Guy Houston, is a co-founder of the specialist consultancy company Transport Investment Limited. He is an advisor to Turkey’s leading long distance bus network, Kamil Koc.


Iain Lanaghan, Non-Executive Chairman

Iain Lanaghan is co-founder and Non-Executive Chairman of MET. He is also a Non-Executive Director of Cabot Energy plc, MOD’s Defence Equipment & Support organisation, The National Nuclear Laboratory and from 1st April 2017, Scottish Water.

He has specialised in building growth companies in public and private markets, as well as the restructuring of entities in the transport and energy sectors.

His previous transport experience has included four years as Group Finance Director of FirstGroup plc. At FirstGroup he significantly strengthened the balance sheet by increasing debt maturity through the issue of £550 million of bonds, including the debut bond, and £400 million of refinanced facilities, as well as major changes to the Group's pension schemes. He also led a number of successful acquisitions and integrations. He is a founder and former CFO of European transport business Abellio GmbH.

Other senior roles have included Group Finance Director at Faroe Petroleum plc, where activities included two equity raises of £125m and a $425m debt refinancing, and value adding acquisitions, disposals and swaps. He was also Finance Director of PowerGen International, which grew from a start-up to $7billion of projects under management. He has also had experience in private equity backed businesses, including as Group Finance Director of Atlantic Power, which he prepared for flotation prior to a successful trade exit.

He is a chartered accountant, having qualified with KPMG London and Frankfurt.


Guy Houston, Finance Director

A Chartered Accountant, Guy's career has broadened to encompass wider management and commercial experience gained as Finance Director of large transport businesses in both the public and private sectors.

Guy is a specialist in transport operational finance and his previous positions include Finance Director of regional bus companies for Stagecoach, senior HQ roles at Stagecoach, UK Bus Finance Director for First Group plc and Finance Director of Transport Scotland. He also has experience of managing rail operations in Scandinavia and rail franchises in the UK. Guy, along with David Leeder, is a co-founder of the specialist consultancy company Transport Investment Limited.


Steve Clayton, Non-Executive Director

Steve is a former main board Director of Arriva plc and former President of the Confederation of Passenger Transport UK. He has extensive experience in the transport industry, both in the UK and Continental Europe. He is a Director of leading bus manufacturer Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL) and public interest bus company, Uno.


Wolfgang Meyer, Non-Executive Director

Wolfgang Meyer is strategic adviser to MET and a Board Director. He has over 20 years high level experience in the German bus and rail industries. He is Vice President of the trade association Mofair and was previously co-founder and CEO of Abellio and CEO of EVAG Essen. He founded and owns the specialist strategy and recruitment consultancy “Linearis”.

Fabian Maul, Head of Finance

Fabian is a certified accountant and has wide-ranging business experience in executive positions in the bus and rail business. He spent three years as Head of Accounting for the Alpha Trains group. Prior to this he was employed in a variety of financial positions in the Abellio concern, among other things as Head of Finance of their bus companies in Hessen.


Michal Herba, Commercial Director, Germany

Michal has over ten years of experience in the bus and rail sector in a variety of roles including strategic business development, consulting, operational control and management. He joined MET from the private German rail operator Keolis, where he led both the Contract Management department and the Control Centre. Previously he worked for the bus and rail operator Rhenus-Keolis. He is a graduate in Business Administration from the University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) and has also studied in Maastricht in the Netherlands.
